Michelle Piano lives and works in Northern New Jersey on the outskirts of NYC. While the past has included working at non-profits, museums, and academia, she currently teaches high school sculpture, ceramics, and drawing. In between her day job and boring tasks like laundry, she maintains a studio in her backyard and basement to pursue her own work.
Michelle received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture and Fibers at Montclair State University in 1991, and went on to study Fibers at Cranbrook Academy of Art, where she received a Master of Fine Arts in 1995. She has exhibited and sold her work over the years in the New York City area, London, Denmark, Russia and Japan.
In addition to being an artist and educator, Michelle is a self proclaimed science nerd, naturalist, Trekkie, collector of random metal objects, partial world traveler, so-so gardener, sky gazer, animal lover, beach bum, pretty good cook, and a big fan of rock 'n roll.
