Michelle Piano lives and works in Northern New Jersey on the outskirts of NYC. While the past has included working at non-profits, museums, and academia, she currently teaches high school sculpture, ceramics, and drawing. In between her day job and boring tasks like laundry, she maintains a studio in her backyard and basement to pursue her own work.
Michelle received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture and Fibers at Montclair State University in 1991, and went on to study Fibers at Cranbrook Academy of Art, where she received a Master of Fine Arts in 1995.
In addition to being an artist and educator, Michelle is a self proclaimed science nerd, naturalist, Trekkie, collector of random metal objects, partial world traveler, so-so gardener, sky gazer, animal lover, beach bum, pretty good cook, and a big fan of rock 'n roll.
